Fuzhou, August 29 (Xinhua)-- the annual Badminton China Open 2017 will kick off in the Fuzhou Strait Olympic Sports Center from November 14th to 19th. According to the initiating press, the total prize money for this event will hit $700,000. The world top ten players will participate in the competition. The high-profile ticket pre-sale is under way.
This event is hosted by Chinese Badminton Association, Fujian Provincial Administration of Sports, the People's Government of Fuzhou and organized by Fuzhou Municipal Bureau of Sports and Fuzhou Cultural Investment Group. Five single games (mixed doubles, men’s singles, men’s doubles, women’s singles, women’s doubles) feature this event which will consist of the qualifying match to be held in 16 places and the official match in 32 places. The prize money is up to $700,000. The world top ten players will take part in the competition. Since the Badminton China Open is an international competition of World Championships level, players’ scores in this event will be taken into the world ranking and the scores of Olympic participation.
To intensify relevant interaction, a six-day "Carnival" will take place outside the Strait Olympic Sports Center at North Square during the course of the event. Meanwhile, the top badminton players will turn up to interact with the public to share the fun of games.
The high-profile ticket pre-sale has already been initiated in the press. It is reported that Fuzhou Cultural Investment Group will take charge of the tournament ticket sales independently this year by providing convenient ticket purchase channels from both online and offline platforms. The public can book tickets from the special online ticket sales platform, service windows of the Fuzhou Strait Olympic Center, Fuzhou Gymnasium, South Jiangbin Beach Volleyball Ground, or sales office and commercial plaza of Thaihot Group. During the competition, Carnival area in the North Square of the Strait Olympic Center will also set up ticket sales center.
With an excellent strength in badminton, Fujian has trained more than a dozen world champions and Olympic champions over the years. In 1986, the first China Badminton Open Tournament was held in Fuzhou and Fuzhou thus became the birthplace of the tournament. In May 2014, according to the Badminton World Federation and the General Administration of Sport, Fuzhou was authorized to host 2014-2017 China Badminton Open Tournament. It is the fourth consecutive year for Fuzhou to hold the event.
