Inner Competitions: Lin Dan eliminated, Chen Long expected to meet Lu Guangzu

Fuzhou China Open 2019 ran into the second day of competition on November 6, Chinese national badminton players put on three inner competitions. During the eye-catching competition between Lin Dan and Chen Long, Chen Long reversed the failure in the first round, while Lin Dan suffered the eighth “first round trip”.

It was their first encounter.Lin unfolded the match at 8:3. Chen Long seized another five points in a row and ran neck and neck with his opponent at 16:16.Lin Dan braved the close pursuit and got the first win by grasping the third game at 21:19. At the second round, Chen Long got the first 4 points and even defeated Lin Dan at 21:12 as the latter made more mistakes in competition. At the defining moment,Chen Long got the leading place and sustained his edge throughout the match at 21:12,winning the top 16.

“Both of us got right into the competitive state at the beginning,then my opponent steadily grasped the key points. At the third game, I did not have enough energy to seize the points. Although I lost the competition, generally speaking, I have higher morale and better state than I did in the French Open. I will try my best during the following competitions,” said Lin Dan after the competition.

It is noteworthy that Lin Dan was ranked 17th in the Olympic points ranking and expected to grapple for qualification for Tokyo Olympics with his teammates only when he moved up one ranking. “The priority in a competition is to fully exert one’s ability and morale, while points and Olympics are bigger goals,”said Lin Dan.

Chen Long is expected to encounter Lu Guangzu. Involved in successive inner competitions which posed great impact on Chinese men’s singles, Chen Long showed confidence in national reserve of talents, “Everyone needs points for Olympics, so it is impossible to escape from inner competition.”

The N0. 3 seeding players of mens’ doubles Li Junhuiand Liu Yuchen competed against strong Korean players Seo Seung Jae and Choi Solgyu right after their Macau Open champion. They had a tug of war in between, after three intense games, Chinese national players defeated their opponents at 21:19、19:21、21:15. They expressed their will to cherish every match, deploy their skills and found their weakness.

Han Yue in play

     It was a pity that Han Yue was defeated by the Japanese player Aya Ohori at 21:15, 19:21, 7:21 this morning. At the opening of the second game, he applied for a medical suspension for a feather hurt his eyes, which negatively affected his performance in the following games.
