Shi Yuqi

Shi Yuqi took the lead 10-7 against Denmark player Rasmus Gemke, while the latter reversed the trend by seizing 14 points in a row. Shi Yuqi and his coach chose to quit during the break. He explained that he felt discomfort in his ankle.

Shi Yuqi streamed into the finals in Macao last week and competed intensely against Son Wan Ho yesterday. The intensity of competitions negatively affected his recovery from the ankle surgery which was performed three months ago.

Quitting from such Super 750 of high-level competition for Olympic points, Shi Yuqi felt pity. “But I may not win the following match as well, I’d better take care of my ankle and pinch myself next time.”
