On November 8, Fuzhou China Open entered the fourth competition day. In quarter-final of men’s singles, Lu Guangzu lost at 0-2 and was defeated by Zhou Tiancheng, a player from Taipei, China. What’s more, in men’s double, Li Junhui/Liu Yuchen lost to Indian players, Lanji Reddy/Shet, at 0-2. so far, all Chinese players of men’s singles and men’s double fail to advance. In women’s double, No. 3 seeded players Chen Qingchen / Jia Yifan defeated No. 8 seeded players Kim So Yeong/ Kong Hee Yong who come from Korea at 2-0. Zheng Siwei / Huang Yaqiong and Wang Yilv/ Huang Dongping won in mixed double by beating Korean group and Malaysian group respectively and successfully advanced to the semi-finals.
Zhou Tien Chen
Lu Guangzu competed against Zhou Tien Chen who is from Taipei, China at quarter-final. Lu Guangzu had a good start quickly and then Zhou Tien Chen overtook the score. Lu Guangzu lost 4 points after tenaciously chasing to a tie at 17-17, so Zhou Tien Chen won the first game at 21-17. In the second game, Zhou Tien Chen had a leading start at 10-3, and Lu Guangzu, who fell behind at the beginning, turn the tide at 16-14. Unfortunately, Lu Guangzu failed to keep the leading superiority. Zhou regained the lead with 21-18 and then knocked out Lu Guangzu at 2-0 by winning the second game.
Kento Momota, the No.1 seeded player of men’s singles, won Viktor Axelsen with 21-18、12-21、21-16. He has 12 winning streak while fighting against former world champion, Danish player Viktor Axelsen, and advanced to semi-final of Fuzhou China Open 2019. He is about to defend the champion if he could win two more games. After that, he will receive 10 victories in single season and is expected to equalize the record of Lee Chong Wei.
Both Lin Dan and Chen Long failed to advance to next round. Therefore, the highlight of men’s singles is about who can defeat Japanese player Kento Momota.
Zheng Siwei/ Huang Yaqiong
In the quarter-final of mixed double, Zheng Siwei/ Huang Yaqiong always took the leading place and easily promoted to the semi-finals after using only 36 minutes to defeat Seo Seung Jae/ Chae Yujung at 21-14 and 21-10. Malaysian group Goh Soon Huat/Lai Shevon Jemie will face Zheng Siwei/ Huang Yaqiong in semi-final after defeating Dechapol Puavaranukroh/Sapsiree Taerattanachai at 21-13 and 21-18. The Japanese group Yuta Watanabe/ Higashino won the game at 21-15 and 21-18. Moreover, the No.2 seeded players Wang Yilyu/Huang Dongping won Malaysian group Chan Peng Soon/ Goh Liu Ying after obtaining victory in the third game at 24-22. It is worth mentioning that today is the birthday of Wang Yilyu. After the game, fans sang birthday songs to celebrate his birthday and congratulate them on their hard-won victory.

Without a good performance, it took Li Junhui/ Liu Yuchen 43 minutes to complete the game by losing to Indian players Rankireddy/Shetty at 19-21 and 15-21. So far, all Chinese players of men’s singles and men’s double failed to advance to semi-finals.
In the quarter-finals of the women’s singles, Chen Yufei defeated Thailand’s player Intanon with 21-15 and 21-13. Now Chen Yufei received 10 victories and 2 failures. In tomorrow’s semi-final, she is going to compete with Michelle Li. Canadian player Michelle Li beat Busanan with 21-16 and 23-21. Dai Ziying won Kim Ga Eun with 21-15, 11-21 and 21-13, while He Bingjiao failed in the competition with Nozomi Okuhara who will fight against Dai Ziying in semi-final tomorrow.
In quarter-final of women’s double, Li Wenmei / Zheng Yu faced No.1 seeded players Mayu Matsumoto/ Wakana Nagahara and lost the game at 1-2. And the No.3 seeded players Chen Qingchen/ Jia Yifan defeated Korean group Kim So Yeong/ Kong Hee Yong. Yuki Fukushima/Sayaka Hirota, another Japanese group, who received their victory by beating Malaysian group Chow Mei Kuan/Lee Meng Yean at 21-15 and 21-14 will compete with Chinese players Chen Qingchen/ Jia Yifan.
